Whirlwind December!

After much complaining that I have dropped from the blog world, I thought I’d try to recap the last 6 six weeks. It has truly been a whirlwind.

Thanksgiving – Our Thanksgiving was pretty great. We enjoyed a scrumptilious meal with the folks and Jennie’s family. Jennie and Mom had pretty much taken care of the food and I wanted to contribute in some way, so I delegated myself as the “remember why we have thanksgiving” representative. I created some cute party favors for everyone and then I collected quotes on thanksgiving, gratitude, and service. We then went around the table and discussed our quotes. It stretched out the dinner and even the youngest ones wanted to read their quote and tell us what it meant to them. I was very pleased that we didn’t just shove food into our mouths and then leave the table after 15 minutes. It was nice.

We didn’t get up at the break of dawn to shop the day after Thanksgiving, but we did get some shopping in. We stayed away from the stores that had remnants of people camping out. Too crazy and crowded for us.

Our new baby – So, Trav has wanted a Jaguar (car, not the exotic animal). So, we found this car, turned in the Camry and adopted this cute little Jag on December 5th. She (yes, it is a girl) is a black 2003 S-type. Lots of fun.

Pre-Christmas – Filled with parties, shopping, wrapping gifts, decorating, etc. Just the normal stuff. I was consistently surprised that the feeling of being overwhelmed didn’t leave me throughout December. I seemed to have things every night and on more than one occasion double or triple booked. Ah, but it was fun (mostly).

Vegas baby! – We were invited by the Athletic Department to go to the Las Vegas Bowl. It happened to be over our 11 year anniversary. We stayed at the Golden Nugget with the team and had a blast at the game. We had 3rd row tickets! It was, however, quite cold and we weren’t entirely prepared (i.e. blankets, ear muffs, thermals) so we left a little early.

Christmas – Christmas was spent at home. We did go to my folks for Christmas Eve. We had a nice dinner and played a Christmas trivia game. We also had a piñata which was way fun. After opening our gifts, we headed home. Christmas morning was filled with lots of fun gifts. We are going to a Jazz game in February and to Les Miserables in June. A few of the gifts we rec’d this Christmas.

This week, I have been working. Trav has too many vacation days that he had to use up before the end of the year and I have barely a day worth of vacation left. It has actually been quite enjoyable because of the quiet. I have been able to get on top of the many things that I have needed to do. I think I am ready for people to come back to the office.

Well, that is the update!!
